We absolutely loved our experience training with Jason and we are so happy with the results! Before we went through training, walks were stressful as our pup loved to pull, pick up everything she found on the ground, jump, and play tug of war with the leash. After working with Jason for a few sessions, she walks right at our side, is less distracted, and can even play off leash! We've received several compliments from our neighbors about how well behaved she is now! Jason was flexible with scheduling and answered all of our training-related questions. We're so glad we used Canine Scholars!read more

Our experience with Canine Scholars and Jason was excellent and I highly recommend them for any training services. Jason is very patient and knowledgeable. We wanted our golden doodle, Whiskey, to be trained off leash. Jason did an excellent job in a short time. Whiskey is fully trained and we really enjoyed our sessions with Jason.read more

Where do I even begin?! I never knew how much my dog controlled me until after the two week training program with Chris. I was at a loss with my dog. He was overly hyper, jumped on everyone, pulled the leash, nervous biting, and of course would run away at any chance he got. After two weeks with Chris, ALL of those nasty habits were gone! My golden retriever now comes when he’s called, we have the most enjoyable walks now, he will place and stay on things. I’m truly blown away. And so so thankful! Now instead of worrying about my dog 24/7 we have fun together and I don’t have that stress that I constantly had before. The only problem I have is WHY I didn’t do this sooner?! We were lucky enough to work with Chris and have never been so pleased to work with someone. He’s knowledgeable, understanding, and very talented in what he does. I’m so thankful for canine scholars!!!read more
The neighborhood is astonished at the transformation they have seen in my dog, Huck! Chris trained me and Huck together, and in about five lessons turned him into an amazing, well-trained dog. We get so many compliments everywhere we go now about Huck’s excellent behavior. He can walk off leash through the neighborhood and on the Greenway and always stays by my side. He comes enthusiastically when called without fail. I truly believe he has a much happier life now that he can run free and play without being in danger. Thank you, Chris!read more

Since working with Jason at Canine Scholars, our one year old labradoodle has been a dream! We worked with dog trainers in the past, but never got the long-lasting results we were looking for. Jason spent time training us and our dog and the results have been amazing. We have the easiest time walking our dog around busy places with no pulling or jumping. We can also let our dog play off-leash with the confidence she won't run off. With only eight lessons, we couldn't be more pleased with the results. Hands down, we recommend Canine Scholars and will definitely use Jason again in the future!read more

We adopted our cane Corso mix when he was about 14 months old and 115 lbs. I knew to have a dog of that size he needed to be well trained if I was ever going to be comfortable taking him out in public. Chris at Canine Scholars was great with Fritz. Now he can be trusted off leash when we are out enjoying the front porch and I do not hesitate to take him to the park or for walks by myself.read more

We have an almost 10 month golden retriever pup who is a sweetheart but was getting completely out of control. He weighs 65 pounds and would pull me down the stairs to the point that I would almost fall, yank me around the block, lunge at other dogs to play, jump all over people that walked into the door and run around our house with our belongings like a maniac. We weren't sure what, if anything could fix it. We've had four lessons now and the difference is hard to believe. He doesn't pull the leash and will sit on his bed (or any assigned place) until I give him permission to leave, even when new people walk through the door. He comes when he's called and we're even working on being off-leash in crowded places. It makes every experience more enjoyable for us and our pup! Jason and Chris taught our pup so much but most importantly he taught us the concepts and gave us the tools we need to understand the way our dog thinks and how to act accordingly. We can't thank them enough 🙂 - Mac, Megan & Mattread more

In less than two weeks Jason had me walking both of my Goldens on loose leads! Nothing short of amazing! I wish I had known about him two years ago. He is extremely knowledgeable, patient, organized, thorough, and punctual. Jason helps you get immediate results. Instead of boring you with a lot of useless information, he just helps you train your dog.read more

Today on my day off I took Cheyenne for a walk she did absolutely marvelous (illegal to be off leash on greenway). We practiced stay on the manholes on the Greenway a bunch of dogs walked by and she was not remotely interested. We also practiced (off leash) in the front yard and we had the mailman stop & some lady selling some junk pass by and each time I told her to go place which happens to be the front stoop and she went. she sat she did not move. she didn't even bark. I realize Cheyenne didn't need training it was me the owner. It's amazing what proper tools and time can do. Thank you canine scholars and Jason Toy in particular.read more

What is the cost of your evaluation?

Nada, Nothing, Zilch. Who doesn’t like showing off their work? We would love to come out and show you our dogs, so you can see the quality of our training program with your own eyes. And while we’re there, we’ll also talk through your goals and give you a free evaluation of your dog.

Do you own a dog?

I do! A dog trainer without a dog is like a handyman without any tools. We train dogs because we love dogs and because we want other pet parents to get the most out of their pet-human relationship. Think of us as the nauseatingly happy married couple who’s always trying to fix you up.

I don’t need my dog to be off leash, why should I care?

That’s like saying, “I’m homeschooling my child. Why does he need discipline?” Getting your dog to the next level is our highest priority. Our goal is for you and your dog to be confident in every situation, and prepared for the unexpected, even inside your home.

When is training and how long?

Training sessions are scheduled at your convenience. Typically, sessions are done weekly and last approximately one hour. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but like most things, there’s value in quality over quantity.

I don’t really need all those tricks!

Tricks and tasks are two sides of the same coin. Your dog may not need to know how to shake hands, but he needs to know how to stop and stay and drop. The more commands he masters, the more confident you’ll both be in any situation.
