For your puppy to develop into the loving companion it wants to be, it needs a proper understanding of its nature and the correct guidance in everyday life. Dogs naturally want to listen to you and make you happy, but you must first learn how to effectively speak their language. Our dog training professionals will help you understand your pet’s behavior better and give you the skills to develop a long, healthy and loving relationship with it. You will learn how to best communicate with your puppy, and solve issues related to housebreaking, chewing, teething, digging and other such common problems faced by owners. The training will also introduce your puppy to basic commands such as ‘sit’, ‘come’ and ‘stay’, practical skills such as loose leash walking, and socialization with people and other dogs.
When to Start
The most critical period in canine development is between the ages of 10 to 16 weeks, when dogs begin to form opinions, attitudes and perspectives that will last for the rest of their lives. Correcting their behavior at this early stage is extremely important in preventing the occurrence of issues in the future. It is also imperative that they be properly socialized during this period, as those that are not may display fearful behavior around humans or other dogs when they become adults.
Our expert dog trainers will help your puppy overcome most of its irrational fears in our uniquely created environment that introduces them to ordinary experiences. For many dogs, encountering household furniture and items like vacuum cleaners, hair dryers, lawn mowers and umbrellas can be potentially frightening events. Our dog training methods will help to build their confidence and ensure that meeting new people and objects are positive experiences for them.
We also offer the American Kennel Club’s AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program, which aims to develop a healthy relationship between owners and their puppies right from the outset. An incentive program for caring dog owners, the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program focuses on owner behaviors, puppy behaviours and Pre-Canine Good Citizen Test behaviours. It is available once you complete a basic training class taught by an AKC Approved CGC Evaluator like Canine Scholars.
